One of our favourite cars at fullboost is Andrew’s Holden station wagon. Turbocharging the factory stock internal LS1 V8 engine saw the wagon go as quick as 9.5 at 147mph whilst still retaining a 4spd transmission.
With the aim of driving to the track running an 8-second pass and driving home, things have since stepped up a lot since then. Power now comes from an LQ9 based engine boosted by a Garrett GTX45R turbo, Turbo400 trans and larger 275 drag radial tyres.
At nearly 2-tonnes the wagon still retains full electrics and air conditioning. Andrew’s best time to date is a 9 flat at nearly 160mph but this time out the car was suffering from what was later found to be a blocked intercooler.
