The Australian Ford LTD FD series released in 1982 was available in both a 5.8L V8 and 4.1L 6-cylinder as a luxury family car. By 1984 the V8 option was dropped as Ford moved from the larger engine platform. Ali’s 1984 example was factory fitted with the fuel injected cross-flow 6 only made around 150hp, not much by today’s standard.
Lucky for Ali the factory six is long gone in favour of a later model SOHC 4L six as found in the Aussie AU series Falcon. The engine itself has been de-stroked to 3.8L by Tunnel Vision with forged internals. Boost comes from a Garrett GT42 turbocharger using Tunnel Vision manifolds.
A Haltech platinum sport computer is fitted as the car runs on regular pump E85 fuel. Ali’s best time to date is a nine fifty at over 140mph.
