One car that caught our eye at the recent SubiNats was Phil Bunters first generation WRX. Phil originally drove the car back in 2008 with track success before later acquiring it for himself a few years later.
Since then Phil has reworked the entire car, more recently giving it a paint job. The wheel flares were grafted from a VE Commodore while the body still retains all steel panels and factory glass. Power comes from an Ichiban closed deck 2.5L using a 2008 crankshaft, forged bottom end and Kelford cams. A GT Pumps turbocharger and E85 combine for around 480hp to the wheels. After only a handful of laps at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit Phil had already delivered a great result.
