The opening act of Australia’s favourite horsepower party sees hundreds of mechanical masterpieces taking to the streets in the spectacular annual Summernats Citycruise.

Taking place at midday on Thursday January 5th, Northbourne Avenue Canberra will come alive with the colour and noise of a 300 strong procession of amazing hot rods, street machines and highly modified vehicles cruising into the heart of our nation’s capital in front of thousands of onlookers.

“It’s a favourite event at the Nats’ every year for entrants and Canberrans alike. It’s our unique way of kicking off the event and a great way for the local community to get involved. Nothing quite beats the sight of 300 incredible cars rumbling down Northbourne Ave,” said Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez.

Everyone is invited to this free local event that brings the community together. Perfect for families to have a picnic, workers looking for an exciting lunch break or for the thousands of visitors and locals alike who are looking for an enjoyable afternoon show.

Starting at Exhibition Park, the cruise route will begin on Flemington Road, before turning right onto the Federal Highway/Northbourne Avenue. The cruise then continues on into the city, before turning around at London Circuit and heading back along Northbourne to EPIC.

The best places to view this incredible show are in the city, along the cruise route up Northbourne Avenue, and at the entrance and exit of the cruise route from EPIC. Spectators should note the central median strip is off limits on Northbourne Avenue/Federal Highway.

The Citycruise is run with the approval of the ACT Government Road Transport Authority and to assist a trouble free run, Roads ACT and the ACT Police will be assisting in the traffic management and control of the event.

With 20,000 people expected to line the streets and create an amazing atmosphere in the centre of Canberra, the summernats Citycruise is a supercharged show not to be missed, so put it in the diary and join us on Thursday 5th January at 12pm.
