Saturday at Indy saw the V8 Supercars first race. The newly constructed pits were deemed too narrow for safe pit stops, so the 100km race was run with no scheduled/forced stops. The Champ cars were keen to qualify in a good position to try and avoid any potential problems at the first chicane on Sunday. As always there was plenty of action on the racetrack as well as off the race track, particularly from the many unit balconies scattered around the circuit!

Friday at the Indy on the Gold Coast saw the V8 Supercars and the Champ/Indy cars hit the track for the first time. Australian David Besnard in the WPS Champ car was out for the first time and was getting used to the feel of the car. A good Friday crowd of around 62,000 saw some great action on the track all day. Usually Friday night is the drag racing demonstration, but the program was changed this year to feature the Porsche Carrera Cup race, a good chance to see some glowing brake rotors and an interesting time for the drivers who had to adjust to the night time visibility.
