It looked like he was spinning to about the 330ft mark and the car got a bit out of shape and once it hit the grass there was no saving it. It a shame as it was a fairly new Monaro GTO.

This is taken from another forum and was posted by the owner of the car and he says what happened::

Just got a lumpy cam installed and edit done. 302.8 RWKW

first to second shift was way to hard and I only drove the thing with traction control on in the street (save the fun for the track).

Called the tunner and said the first second shift felt way too hard spectially when you chirp quarter throttle.

He told me it should be fine, it was set up for drags but he will adjust it next week.

Frist mistake - Shouldn't of drove it before I got the shift fixed
Second mistake - should of kept traction on till I knew how it was going to shift.

Took off fine, first to second shift just couldn't keep it ....

Not my fist time at the drags .. I dragged last week got 13.5 stock with exhaust.

Grass down the sides of the track=BAD.

There were a couple of crashes at AIR (Maztech and Adelaide Thunder) that were made a great deal worse because of the grass at the side of the track.

Poor bloke-I hope the damage is repairable.
