View Full Version : Suspension tuning for Drag Radials
Just wanting to hear from people that are setting their car's up to run on radials or that have swapped from slicks.
What do you have to do to make these tyres work? Do you go stiffer or softer, etc?

sorry for the late reply...
i guess the real question firstly, is whats your current setup?
How much power, and whatever timeslips you might have from radial passes might get you a few bites.
transbrake?
How much stall?
etc,etc.
Most often, tyre pressure too high will cause tramp in a kingswood.
FWIW, i have no problems with the radials, running 11.3 on a 235/60/15 at the moment, but i run em soft..(a lot softer than the "one size fits all" recomendation from MT)
4 door HQ, 355, tri, 10 bolt. Pedder's 90/10's, std 6 cyl fr springs, was(when raced and had axle tramp) Gabriel gas shocks rear and Kings 2" lowered HD Torana rear springs, boxed upper and lower control arms, no sway bars, 255/60/15 MT radials @ 15psi , 11.4 @ 116(backed off), 1.73 60' with axle tramp and loss of traction. No trans brake, 5000+ stall leaving at about 2200rpm.
So when did you run the 11.3 Green? What's your whole set up now and how much tyre pressure are you running?
Cheers.
P.S. Just swapped out rear shocks and springs for some Pedders gas ryders and some slightly softer rear springs.
