who else hates the time wasting jet cars at heathcote?? why should we pay $50 entry for test and tune on the last friday night for racing to start at 6pm then stop at 7pm for a tea break then start after tea with the stupid jetcars!!!

surely the owner could waste his own time and fuel on a tuesday arvo!!!

FWIW, i dont enjoy the jet cars either, but if i owned a few, and owned a racetrack, id damn well use them whenever i pleased.

you can run your dragstrip however you want jetcarhater:p

If ya don't like it don't fucken go ! Better yet go to some other track .
Why don't you have some balls and speak to Russell in person instead of bagging him on this forum ya weak pricks ! Its his track he can do what ever he likes .

Jet cars will leave a light film on the track of whatever fuel they are burning.Back in the 90's when we used to get jet cars at Calder the track crew would always drag the track and respray with vht each time they ran.

It is a good point, why does the owner of the track need to take up time running his car when payed up racers are sitting in the pits waiting?

i beleive he wasnt bagging russel or the track.. i beleive the guy has a valid point. Even at Calder, the burnout pad is a waste of time and fcukin stupid. You want big hp cars to turn up, pay the $$, sit there whilst the track temp drops all because some knob in his vn wants to do a skid.. yay.

Same goes for Heathcote - if your going to demo a jet car, do it last in the night where your not taking up time of the races who are there to race, not watch a jetcar making popping and farting noises.

and whats even worse is he then turns around and come back up the track then on the back off puts fuel all over the start line

If people think that jet cars spray fuel all over the track then why is it that the cars use roughly 90 litres of fuel per pass at approx 1200 degrees pushing 30,000 cubic feet of air per second @ 6000 pounds of thrust and the jet dryer uses 120 litres of fuel blowing directly down onto the track .
On sunday after a sprinkle of rain Russell dried the track with the track dryer and Martin Placko ran 1st up running a personal best in the green xy superplus ute .
So does that mean he is a hell of a driver or has a personal death wish
I'm no expert on the subject but if they leave a residue all over the track as claimed then wouldn't the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Aurthority ban all jet planes to stop all the other planes from slipping off the runways ?
As i said before if people have a problem with Heathcote or Russell and his jet cars speak to him directly !

I've never seen anyone complain when Russell uses the Jet dryer on the track and that is directed pointing at the ground? He used it yesterday as well.

I know the RX7 uses the higher grade JetA1 fuel, not diesel like the jet dryer. It seems as though people will complain aobut anything these days...

jetcars are good to watch racing each other down the track like how they used to at the nationals but the jetcars that are just there for show to blow some flames out while they go up and down the track is pretty shit

It seems to me that not many of the racers like payin to race then have wate while the owner of the track has his fun!!, Startin to look like another track owner who dosent listen to the racers and dose what he wants, and we cant race there now can we!!!!!

I've used a jet dryer a few times before, and basically you can use any fuel that burns through them, just depends on what the budget is or what fuel is available. We used to put unleaded through the jet to dry the track, as it doesnt leave a greasy residue like diesel or kerosene....

I am not entering any arguements to do with the jet cars. I have respect for russell and the heathcote staff and track! But i think that there were issues with the track i am assuming from the fuel that is dumped from the jets but not sure. All i know is that my car setup was untouched from racing in sydney and calder and the car was bullet straight. On my first run i hit top gear and got to about half track and 6000rpm before the engine pinged off the limiter at 7900 due to unloading the tyres. On the second run i crossed the finish line sideways at over 150mph after a skatey run all the way down the track. I want to race at the Ford nationals on may 30th but at the same time dont want to risk hurting myself or damaging the car....i dont know if there was a problem with the track or not but i checked the rear end of the car on the sunday after and all is fine so i cant explain the reasons why? Maybe a good load of heat from the dryer and some VHT down the track might be the go after the jets have run!!!

well I hope you understand that he might be doing this to get more spectators in to watch you guys AND GALS race and keep this sport going. Bums in seats keep your fees lower (no spectators, prices must rise) so I have seen the effect off riseing cost and I have seen that cost of raceing stay steady for a long time due to the attempt By The Owner to get more bums in seats even when it costs him over 800lt of fuel for the weekend at no cost to you

Do you think that instead of buying 800ltr's of jet fuel maybe put that in to track prep to make it better which in turn brings better and faster cars and bigger crowds, im not to sure if you have been in the pits or on the hill when the jet cars come out and heard most peopel wish they werent there!!!!.

Jet cars have no place at a test and tune. Especially during the day when you can't see the flames it's a great waste of time...

Let's face it its Russell's track and he does what he wants but I agree that you've seen them once you've seen them all.

Chris my car did the same 1/2 track onwards. Not worth it mate. Store it till some decent tracks open up. Till then Heathcote is perfect for 10 sec high 9 sec type cars.. No offence Russell or Joanne.

P.S: No one has mentioned the dust? $100K race cars with the best of everything and one outing at Heathcote and you spend 3 months detailing and removing dust. Let alone mozzies when you race at night...

If that was the case, why not run it over the HOUR long tea break?

lenny/kerm
29-04-09, 08:53 PM
if the jet cars and van were to be run over the tea break, that would defeat the purpose of having a tea break as the staff would have to continue to work whilst the jet cars ran. those guys are intitled to their break.
the track gets spayed with traction compound after lunch and tea break.

different strokes for different folks. i think everyone knows that, some people like turbos some like supercharged outlaws, some like bikes, and some like jet cars. russel just so happens to like jet cars, get over it. they entertain along with all the other cars. if people didn't find them entertaining then why does most of the crowd run to the fence when he starts them up??!!

Now the jetcars thats something to split the day up i think, theres nothing wrong with them and also its not really taking much time away from the event itself.

I don't think personal attacks are going to get us anywhere, just like jumping on your soapbox and telling those with a lesser intelligence than yourself that their opioning is not valid. I don't care much for jet cars and i would probably prefer they don't race at a test and tune, I don't hold the issue in such high regard as to call Russell and tell him about it, does that make me a keyboard warrior as well? I don't have an issue with Russell racing his own cars amongst the rest of us but i think perhaps he could wait until the end of the day, this way the people who want to watch the jetcars can hang around and watch, those who don't can pack up their car and trailer and make a move. This would also eliminate the track condition debate.

i dont hear jet car hater complaining when russel uses 800-1000 lts of fuel to dry the track after its rained, and i don't hear anyone doubting the saftey of the track after he does it. if russel didnt know what he was doing he wouldnt have had the track running so long, he runs a good track and good events.
