hey anybody get the new iphone?
Yet anotehr Apple product without a bloody FM tuner!
Can you copy data files to it?, as the iPod touch you can't, which is ridiculous.
I've read it doesn't accecpt MMS , is this true?
I really don't know what all the hype is about. Apple know how to market!!

i reckon you can because with other phones you set up a profile for multimedia messaging and it works no worries.
Why include a radio when Apple can sell you yet another add on later, gotta love their marketing $$$ :o

Why There is a Need to Have FM Radio for iPhone?
Today, there are a lot of iPhone 'look-alikes' which offer almost the same features as the iPhone, although nothing still beats the interface of the iPhone. But when it comes to the features, an FM tuner is a basic must-have, so it should have been incorporated in the first place.
Just take a look at the excellent features included with the iPhone. It has a 3.5 inch, multi-touch screen with a high enough resolution that makes mobile phone video viewing a pleasurable experience. It also has a 2.0 megapixel camera, a quad-band GSM, wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity and up to eight hours of battery life. With amazing features such as these, it is still a glaring omission that the engineers at Apple failed to include an FM tuner with the iPhone.
Now, let us talk about why there is a need to have FM radio for iPhone. The topmost reason is that sometimes, music players would not be able to provide you with the news, or if there is a particular radio program that you would like to listen to - you will not have it with the iPod or the iPhone. Today, it is necessary to constantly keep in touch with the rest of the world and having an FM radio tuner will allow iPhone and iPod users to enjoy that.
If you are tired of hearing the songs from your music library, there is an alternative option for you if you have an FM tuner in your iPhone. More importantly, an FM tuner is a basic feature that most run-of-the-mill mobile phones have - so why should it not be included as a part of the iPhone?
Will There Be an FM Radio for iPhone?
It is still debatable whether there will be an FM radio for iPhone in the foreseeable future. While you are waiting for this feature to be incorporated with your beloved gadget which is the iPhone, you can make use of the iPod Radio Remote in the meantime. This is a standard 30-pin connected which works well with the iPhone. This external device is already being sold by Apple, and some users may think that because it is being sold as such, Apple may not want to incorporate an FM tuner in the future iPhone versions.
However, if there is enough demand, the higher-up's at Apple may just include an FM radio feature for the iPhone.

My mate had one for about 6 months he got bought it in America, he managed to drop it and the screen shattered entirely, shame you need the screen to do any thing on it, even bigger shame that it wasn’t under warranty. Also, apparently you cannot have any of your own ringtones; it has to be one of the lame apple ones that come with the phone. I would prefer the N95.
You sure that;s correct?
Hard to imagine that the 'Jesus' phone can't set a custom ringtone.

True, the Australian model may differ, and even if you cannot have your own ringtones you can install applications that allow you to customise your iphone.

The one my mate had wasnt a 3G. The 3G model is much better! Has Wi-Fi, GPS, and 50 hours more standby time, the only thing is it doesnt have an outstanding camera - the same 2 Megapixel without a flash like the original iPhone. A very cool phone though!
