The only good thing about Camira's is that they can be used as anchors,I suggest you dump it quick smart before you spend any of your hard earned cash on it.

Just trying to give a bit of friendly advice,I've never owned one but I have worked on enough of them to know how BAD they are.
If you are dead serious about getting more out of it I'll see what I can find out for you.
Bro is nice, but the name is Bernie.LOL.

yeah.. soz bout that.. i dnt really enjoy people telling me they're shit and giving no advice, when i clearly ask for it...
also, i have the JE 2.0L 5sp manual, and i take lexus's, mx-5's, swifts and all those other shit boxes.. the camira's bad name is from the 1.6 and 1.8L piece's of shit..

Apart from the usual bolt on bits,IE extractors, decent exhaust and intake system you could also get the ECU re-mapped.The best way to get the thing to get up and go is to fit a twin cam head from a 2 litre Astra,or a complete engine, the blocks are the same.
Hope this helps.
bernham, you wouldn't know crap about Camiras, one obvious reason being that you said they are BAD... wtf would you know, as you said, you have never owned one, the ones you worked on? most probably mistreated. (like you were by your parents). Your just one of those shit bag idiots who rate JE Camiras on the previous models through what you heard when you jumped on the fkn band wagon.
I have modified mine, modified head, custom forged pistons, T3/4 Hybrid EFI turbo for 15PSI-20PSI boost, custom turbo manifold, custom air intake w/ twin forced intake supercharger (4PSI Induction), Haltek ECM, hardend engine mounts, custom camshaft, 2 inch exhaust (flare 2.5 -> 4), and it hammers. I have munched on Pulsars, BMWS, P.O.S Silvias, Commodores, Datsuns, Suzukis, and the list goes on.
bernham, being from Adelaide, you might know Brighton Road, have you ever taken a Camira from Glenelg Jetty Road to Cement Hill at 230kmph? I'd so no way, because you think they are pieces of shit ;)
Morale: Shut the f$%k up!

CDT, sooo sooo true...
people rate the JE's on what they saw with the 1.6 and 1.8 pieces of shit.. atm i only have a pod filter and im pulling pulsars off the line, and holding most commies to around 80km/h.. stock these things rip it up.. but thats only the JE..
Cheers CDT for supporting the Camiras :D

CDT,my reply to chainzaw was friendly banter,or isn't that allowed here.It doesn't matter what you own or drive you will always find someone who will knock it,I suggest you lighten up some what and don't take life too serious. No I haven't driven up Cement Hill at 230KPH,I'm not that stupid.LOL.
Why you brought my parents into the equation is a mystery,do you normally talk bad about the dead. For your information they were a lovely couple who spent their whole life helping the unfortunates in this world, but I'm sure that wouldn't interest you.Knock me anytime you like, but fight clean.
Merry Xmas.
Bernie.

CDT i think you're reading FAR too much into this. you see i think chainsawz is about 16 and probably has a buck o five to his name, so spending the best part of 10k on the car isnt really what he is after.
i think you will also see the bernham said he hasnt owned one, but has worked on many, so i would suggest that he is in a perfect position to pass judgement on them!
Badmouth anyone again and ya gone.... there are no second chances here.
p.s. what pulsars are you pulling off the line? not the ol 1.5L ET pulsars? you do realise you have a 2.0L dont you ;) why dont you pick on someone your own size like the later model SSS lol take one piece of advice. LEAVE THE CAR ALONE. trust me. you're only young and money spent on it will be money wasted as a muffler will just make it loud and annoying, wheels will make it look good (but why bother, its just a camira!). save the $$$ and buy something you actualy want rather than just a family given handmedown.

yeah, i understand where your coming from Gronk.... and im 17, but i do have shit all money.. but im only centering my questions on the engine.. i dont care about the exterior, or even interior.. i know this thing looks like a flattened VL, and no mags would make this look good.. i just want more power.. cant be too much to ask for?

maybe if you outlined what your budget was in the first post, cdt wouldnt have needed to reply or abuse people also!

go there, start an a/c, put your 3k in there, earn some interest while you save some more and then put it in there.
3k on a camira will be all lost money, and you wont get much thril for your buck either to be honest.
a cam & lifters should be around $400 or so and with a pod filter, and maybe a better muffler, about $800 is all you should spend on it.
