Its been confirmed that Heathcote Park Raceway in Victoria will be the venue for the next round of the sport compact group's 5 round series.
Who's racing!!!
Seing as vl's can race in street289 (normaly unable to due to andra sport compact body rule) id hope to see a big showing of them :D should be interesting to see how many of them go considering they are usually on the transbrake at the start line for the time it takes some of the top cars to get down the 1/4.
dont forget the contingency program they have in effect either!! good way for racers to make some $$$ back just from running the products that help them win! http://www.sportcompact.net.au/racerInfo_contingencyProgram.php
i am 50/50 on racing at the moment, as i prefer to go to watch these events.. make a decision closer to the date :)

This will be a big event for the Vic Sport Compact scene so I'd really hope that everyone gets behind the classes.
We hope to see it become an annual event in the Sport Compact series.
Better get your cars ready guys, you only have 6 weeks :D
We will obviously be providing full photo and video coverage.
Regards
Luke

Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series - Press Release 6
Round 2 of the Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series heads to Heathcote Park Raceway in Victoria on January 13th, 2007 for the newest event on the Series calendar, the SUMMER SLAM. Victorian's, for the 1st time will get a real taste of Sport Compact Drag Racing Action with an annual event to call their own. "We've been looking forward to bringing a Sport Compact event to Victoria for a long time now and are proud to be able to do that in 2007 with the Summer Slam" said Ray Box of SCG.
Following on from the hugely successful, Round 1 of the Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series at the 2006 Fast Fours Jamboree, the Summer Slam will see all 12 Classes contested in this Championship Series event.
The Summer Slam is planned to be an ANDRA Sanctioned event so all vehicles must meet ALL ANDRA Safety Regulations. Click on the following link to download a basic ANDRA Safety Chart Guide (http://www.sportcompact.net.au/pdf/ANDRASafetyGuide.pdf). We must stress this is a Guide Only and you must refer to the ANDRA General Safety Regs in the SCGDRS Rule Book or in the ANDRA Rule Book. The SCGDRS Rule Book is available from this website as a FREE download, click HERE (http://www.sportcompact.net.au/racerInfo_ruleBook.php) to download.
We realise that there hasn't been much in the way of ANDRA Sanctioned events in Victoria for some time, many vehicles may have not had to comply with ANDRA Rules before but safety is a very high priority for us at any event we run. If you are not sure if your vehicle meets the ANDRA General Safety Regs or whether you require an ANDRA Licence please contact us direct via EMAIL (info@sportcompact.net.au?subject=ANDRA%20Safety%2 0Regs%20Question%20-%20Summer%20Slam)or contact David Baker (goonda@alphalink.com.au?subject=ANDRA%20Safety%20 Regs%20Question%20-%20Summer%20Slam) your Victorian ANDRA Divisional Director.
Entries are open so get cracking, click on the following link to go direct to the Online Entries page.

Anyone interested in racing at this event needs to act now if their car requires tech inspection. I'd hate to see racers trailer their cars up and be turned away on the day.

probably as usual everyone will leave their entries til the last moment. no extending entries this time unlike the usual jamboree happenings - closing date is already 1 week before the event.
I'm enterd with the Crown, although it's not showing on the entrant list just yet.
It's good there will be a T&T on the day before so us SA boys to get our cars set up properly prior to the event.

i was talking about this today and was told by a third party (who has talked to ray) that if cars have a cage and meet all the andra requirements but ARE NOT andra tech inspected, still may be able to run as heathcote is a) not an andra track anyway and b) SCG is not an andra sanctioned body.
So PLEASE PLEASE all those who have a car that want to race, and not sure if you can or not, please jump on the website at the top of the page and email ray straight away to see if you will be able too!! want as many cars there as possible!

mazsport/queen st now entered with MR12A (with new setup) and the bmw.
now up to 30 entrants with exactly 1 week till race day. (mazsport/queen st cars not listed amongst that either yet).. most dissapointing thing i suppose (from my point of view) is that 8 of the 30 entrants are motorbikes, and there are only two cars in pro compact (both victorian's), and one in sports mod!! where are all the pac 3/4 cars that are usualy at these events in numbers??

MAZSPORT & QUEEN ST SET FOR TTSS
Bill Nabhan of Mazsport will have his hands for again at the Toyo Tyres Summer Slam come Jan 13th. The Sydney base Rotary Specialist will be piloting the Queen St Smash Repairs Pro Turbo Quad Rotor M3 BMW along with Craig Wasson MR12A Street 289 RX3. The Queen St BMW, in it's virtual debut at the 2006 Fast Fours Jamboree, ran a best of 7.40sec with a best of 190.6 MPH. Over the break the BMW has under gone a number of modifications to fine tune the package.
"We are looking forward to the Summer Slam to further bring out the full potential of the Queen St BMW and we plan to be supporting each round of the Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series," said Nabhan.
Not only will Bill be driving the Queen St BMW but he'll also be behind the wheel of Craig Wasson's MR12A Street 289 RX3. MR12A is the quickest Street 289 car in the country. Having run consistent low 8sec passes all weekend at the ACDelco East Coast Nationals, Bill smashed out an awesome 8.19sec at 162mph from the small block 12A Rotary through the 28" x 9" tyres. "In the last week we've upgraded the 12A's turbo to a new Garrett GT47R in preparation for the Summer Slam. We realise that Damien McKern isn't far behind us so it's time to lift the bar again," comments Nabhan.

AUSTRALIA'S FASTEST VL TURBO ENTERED FOR TTSS
Hooked on the Sport Compact Drag Racing bug after J16, the Rajab Racing Team is back for some more with Australia's Fastest VLTurbo! The VL Turbo piloted by Ben Viceconte, recently ran a pb of 8.38 @ 162.98 and the team is looking to set the bar even higher at the Toyo Tyres Summer Slam, this Saturday Jan 13th at Heathcote Park Raceway. "We are proud to be racing in the Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series and supporting the Victorian scene. We'll continue to push our RB30 SOHC SINGLE TURBO further and further as we continue to chase that illusive 7second bracket whilst we travel around the country," says Alan from Rajab Racing.
AUSROTARY CRUISE TO TTSS

PRE-ENTRIES CLOSED BUT ON-DAY ENTRIES OPEN
In a perfect world it would be great to have an event as pre-entry only but in the busy lifestyle we all lead these days, it isn't always possible. Add to that the Christmas holidays and workshops closing for a well earned break. So for all of you that haven't had time to get your entry form in because you've been busy working on your vehicle or on holidays etc, you'll be able to enter on the day. This includes the Show-N-Shine and Drag Racing. Hope to see you there.
SERIES CONTINGENCY PROGRAM
One of the many benefits of being a Member of the Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series is our exclusive Contingency Program. Some of you may have never heard of Contingency Programs before, while others will be familiar with the concept. In plain terms a Contingency Program is a rewards program where company's post monetary rewards for racers that use their product, display the sponsors decals on their vehicle, meet any other Contingency Sponsors requirements and are a Winner & Runner Up in a class where the company has posted Contingency's.
I must stress this is not FREE money just because you've purchased their product or service. Most Contingency Sponsors have requirements that must be met before Contingency Rewards will be paid.
Before you purchase parts for your car, consider these Contingency Sponsors that provide you a reward for using their product when you win. Conditions do apply and for details click HERE (http://www.sportcompact.net.au/racerInfo_contingencyProgram.php).
