OMG OMG OMG!! I'm drooling at the mouth just thinking about it. I wonder what "new" mods the HKS car has, if any, to beat the Heat Treatments Car. Can't wait!

Dont expect to see any record setting runs not on that track.
They already have the Japanese Pro GTR record :)
ie: unleaded fuel ;)
Bring it on... Unleaded vs Methanol

Where do these mysterious official PRO GTR rules lie? At the end of the day the Heat Treatments car is going to win - its running Methanol and its set up to go quicker. It would be interesting to see the HKS car set up to run Meth as well however.
I look forward to seeing them race each other - I've loved that HKS car ever since I found out about its existance years ago.
The track is pretty good, its much better than the "Usual" NZ track you see - Champion Dragway at Meremere. The meet is being held at a pretty young venue which they are aiming at making the top NZ drag strip, its going to be full length prepped and is FLAT (no way?? a flat drag strip?) so should be much nicer to race on. Now it has a bit of rubber on it, the fastest 60ft ever run on a NZ drag (0.92s) was run on the 27th of December by a car doing its debut runs so its gotta be promising.
At the end of the day NZ still have the fastest GTR out of Japan running "petrol" as well - the GDS R32 ran a 8.08 with a H-pattern box on C16, and has been further developed since.

Post pics of both cars if available.....
It would of been great to watch, but unfortunatly HKS have decided to retire their GTR as "the car is getting old and thus unsafe for the driver and spectators" :(

Thats not a biggy, we still get to see it there in the flesh and while it would have been cool to see the HKS car race in person, it would have been crushed. The Heat Treatments GTR has been further developed since racing in Oz...... it really sounds like they intended on doing some damage

I heard they pulled 2013hp a few days ago in NZ. Is this true?
He should covert to RWD with big slicks and a drag auto, He'll get 1.0s 60 foot times and 6 second passes at over 200mph.

with that sort of HP he will hit 6 second with the 4WD configuration

Thats the rumour, I can't confirm though. The exact number that has been thrown around has been circulating since a day before tuning was completed so I am a bit suss of it, but I know enough to say it is definitely substantially more than 1500hp. Whether that means between 1500 and 2000hp, I don't know.
I believe Reece has said that they'd like to think if they put the engine in a dedicated drag chassis like what people put 2JZs in over the the US - that 6s and >200mph would be more than doable. I wouldn't count on 6s even if it did make 2000hp with the current chassis, its not exactly light and you have to have the traction to maintain the kind of acceleration required to do a 6 - remember its not tubbed.

The event happened, ended up with Heat Treatments doing a 7.7 - somewhere during the run it broke the front diff, but it managed to set its fastest 1/8th mile time (~5 flat at 152mph) before then. The HKS car was retired before the event, so didn't even race and no its not going to be doing any destroying at all. The Heat Treatments GTR looks like its going to be quite safely the fastest 4WD Skyline for awhile yet.
The Heat Treatments GTR is also being retired - a full tube chassis "2007 350Z" is being built, and the drivetrain from the GTR will be put into that to make a PRO RWD contender.

Of course, it is a legend, and you hit the nail on the head - for years it WAS king. Not 7 years, though... the record was set in what 2001? And Heat Treatments beat it in 2006. Also, the track Heat Treatments did the 7.57 AND 7.59 - HKS did a best of "only" 7.9. Heat Treatments highest trapspeed is over 10mph higher as well. There is a new king, and HKS have been beat - end of story. HKS officially announced the retirement of the R33 after agreeing to race - so yeah, read into it what you will... but they sure didn't front up when they have raced in the last few months.
HKS seem more interested in time attacks and drifting these days, I'd be surprised - but still stoked, if they came out with a new car. Its interesting to hear that both HKS and Heat Treatments have retired their cars and reckon the cars are too dangerous now though.... Bear in mind they are on narrow tires running low pressure (front AND back) and crack 300kph. Most drag cars doing that speed don't have the steering end to battle as well....

can u paste me a link with all this info im very upset with the fact that hks has been beatin. they better bring out a new car or at least chuck the 33 on meth and give it one last run

congrats to HTL on their time and I'm sure their new 350Z will be something to watch out for. but I hate to say it, if HKS were still running they would almost certainly still have the title. HKS ran 7.67 not 7.9 and when the car came to Australia they ran 191mph I think it was. that record stood for over 5 years and the car was hardly run during that time. the car was also run on petrol not alcohol.

I said 7.9 on the same track Heat Treatments did the 7.57, the 7.67 was done at Sendai which isn't a "certified" track... there are standards to be met etc to make sure all is fair and equal. 7.9, and HKS never went faster than 181mph that I am aware of - it was Heat Treatments which did ;)
They aren't running, and they don't have the title - thats all there is to it.

2013 hp in a rwd car should run 6.30s.
and at what weight is that analysis based on?

Yeah the HKS 180SX is the fastest RB26 powered thing I am aware of. Until Heat Treatments 350Z runs later this year no doubt.... and I'm pretty sure it will be racing over in Oz.
