Paul Stanek made his first passes at Heathcote Raceway yesterday in his R31 Skyline.
For those who do not know, this car was built some ten years ago but never made a pass. Is still powered by the same 2.7-litre Nissan VG30 (JPC modified), Powerglide 2 speed on alcohol (mechanical injection).
Paul ran a 1.28-second foot on his first ever pass but backed off due to tyre shake. Second pass, and the car ran a very lazy 11.57 at 152.70mph with a lot of potential. The car sounds very tough and it'll be good to see the guys out over the summer period.

Actually, from what i remember, the car has run before, but in Top Doorslammer by George Clasby, had i think 511 cubes, and ran 6.60's@215mph......

Nice. Didn't this car make a appearance at the HKS Drag Combat by the Cabin Crew??
Or was it suppsoe to be there but never made it??
That was the event that saw the HKS R33 Skyline GTR makes its International Debut outside of Japan here at Willowbank Raceway. The one and only time it ever left Japan supposely.
Cheers Brad

I think Luke meant that it has never run with the VG30

Yeah I am pretty sure it is the ex George Clasby doorslammer, was a front runner at the time, before he moved to the first of the Stude's
I think it did maake a appearance at one of the Drag Combats unsure if it actually made a pass.
Yeah thats the ex clasby slammer. I wondered where that thing got to after Bill Moussa? bought it and showed it. Good to see it back on track. Would be killer with a TTVH45 in it though.

Yes that is correct regarding it running in TD some years ago.
When Bill owned the car it went to Drag Combat, did a burnout and had a tranny issue on the startline, never went down the track unfortunately.
Paul has made a few changes to the engine internally but apart from that it's bascially the same as when Bill rebuilt it. Great to see another chassis six cylinder at the track.

Ah cheers for clearing that up. I knew i had seen it prior at a Event. I found the Video of the event under a bunch of crap and yes u are corrct in saying it never made it down the track. but did i nice burnout.
I look forward to hopefully seeing it run then in the future.
Cheers Brad

Looks promising mate. Any advantages found from destroking a VG30 down to 2.7L though? maybe Higher RPM?
Well Done Paul..
Such a TUFF car..
good to see it hit the track. :)

From memory, originally the bullet was built by a guy called 'Buddy" INGERESOL in the states and sold when the class banned it in the early eighties. Was running mid 7's I believe in a 2400lb combo way back then.

Very creative. Actually the engine has lots of ex Newmann Haas /Electromotive road racing gear in it. Because the road racing Nissan VG30 DETTs were so competitive (read, kicked butt), the class rules were changed to reduce their displacement from 3 L to 2.7. This was done via a destroker crank and some other oddball internal changes. As far as I am aware, not one of these combinations ever went drag racing. The R31 sat around for a long time needing someone to put it together properly and Paul Stanek has finally done that. We look forward to some solid performances from it once he sorts it out.
