Following today’s decision by the Stewards to dismiss a protest lodged by Triple Eight Race Engineering the team announced they will not appeal today’s decision and will respect the due process of yesterday and today’s extensive review. Three-time champion Craig Lowndes said while disappointed not to have had the opportunity to race Rick Kelly to the finish for the Championship he was comfortable not proceeding with an appeal.
“We are comfortable not to proceed with an appeal,” Lowndes said. “At the end of the day we have presented our case twice and Rick was found guilty of careless driving and his drive-thru penalty regarded as appropriate.
“On the day we had superior car speed and it was going to take an accident or incident for them (HSV Dealer Team) to beat us, unfortunately we had both.
“Our four round wins including Bathurst highlights that we are a champion team in 2006,” Lowndes concluded.
Triple Eight Race Engineering will now focus on preparing Team Vodafone for the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series.

it speaks volumes to me, that it took that controversial incident with kelly punting lowndes up the arse, for kelly to take out the championship. kelly had NO round wins this year, lowndes had FOUR. it's not the way for an "up and coming young gun" to behave me thinks :rolleyes:
even though kelly won the 2006 title, i think the WAY in which he won it, will ensure that he's one of the most hated drivers in the V8's from now on.
but hey, that's just my two cents ;)

:mad: You get a drive through penalty for crossing a white line re-entering the race track , and also for taking out another car out of a race which is possibly the 2006 winner. Totally different crimes but the same penalty!!
The committe need to get there heads out of there arses ! I think!!

And the only way Kelly was ever going to win was run up the back of Lowndes at the head of a race.

Glad to see some support for lowndsy man he was ripped off:mad:
Lets face it, most talented drivers may need some help for a lap or two but Kelly couldn’t win it even after 6 laps of blocking so he hits and runs like a coward shame shame shame :mad: lol went down to the local speedshop to see about turboing my 89 XF Ute and when i asked what the biggest turbo he had was he replied "mate i just received a new one called the "Rick Kelly"...... guaranteed to have enough suck to get you anywhere" :D and after seeing the final race at Phillip island i decided to order two.

I agree that it's not the way to win a championship, but hey thats racing, I was curious to see who actually hit the 888 car, and there for what caused all the damage, guess what it was team BOC, (LOL). And hey you will need more than a turbo to get that XF ute of yours going, why don't you try a match. Go the Holdens.
