Does anyone know why my gears dont change smoothly without having to apply abit of force to change from one gear to another? I bought my 96 Subaru Liberty GX Rallye not too long ago, and ever since then changing gears is a challenge as gears dont fall into place easy. Could it be something to do with SELECTORS?

you may need to top up the transmission oil. Either that or your synchros are gone.

Could it be anything else... like selectors?.... are synchros expensive to replace?

could also be the shift gate.
Anyone else???? I'm not the total expert on gearboxes.
And my guess for for a subaru, it will be a bit more pricey than any other car where u can get parts from Coles eg. Holden and Ford.

cheers dude, i'll look into it
Common probs are also broken engine and gearbox mounts.
This can cause a dodgy feeling shift.
If a gear is selected and the shifter has alot of play then its commonly the nylon shifter linkage bushes. About $45 from Subaru
Hope this helps.
