R34's are now the new R33 on the road. They are a dime a dozen now lol. I remember when i was 15 and to see an R32 or R33 on the road was once in a blue moon. Same with 180sx's

I very rarely see R34s on the road even R33's, I'm not talking about cheapo GTSts

Yeh i've seen quite a few GTR's, but most R34's being GTT's. Especially in St albans and some areas of sunshine. R32 GTR's are also so common now as they are quite cheap.

GTRs are not common or cheap. These are the cars that were so quick they were banned from Aus Touring Car Racing !!!!

U must be getting confused with Lancers & Daewoos with Shopping Lists down the doors !!

well you can pick one up for 20,000 or less i got my first gtr when i was 18 and that was 2004 and paid 18k ( r32 gtr 1994) for it but i had a good contact in japan threw a friend

but yes i agree with the above post people seem to forget how these dominated

It does show lack of knowledge for people to rubbish such a dominating car as the GTR..

The technology of this car has not surpassed by anyone to date and it 1st arrived in 1989.. It is a sensational piece of machinery, and it continues to improve.

I wouldn't say that, EVO Lancer have always been improving their smart AWD systems.

Racegirl-shhh. You dont even know what you are talking about. R32 GTR's can be purchased for 16-18 grand. That is relatively CHEAP for what the car IS!
They weren't banned from the touring cars because the R32 GTR was a fast car. They were banned from the touring cars because the GTR touring car (go skaife) was a better performer, and constantly won. The V8's were just as quick but didn't have the handling. This was a slap in the face to Australian touring V8's, so shortly after they named it the "V8 supercars" One of the reasons why GTR's weren't exported here by dealers was partly due to Japan taking that as a sign of disrespect by dumping the GTR from touring.
PS. and no, i wasn't getting them confused with daewoo's with shopping lists. Where the hell did that statement come from anyway? stop talking gibberish.

Justntime. What are you talking bout? who in this forum degraded the R32 GTR? All that was said is they are common because they are relatively cheap now. In my opinion the godzilla will be on of the best production performers ever built, PERIOD! even by todays standards, they are advanced.

ElPimpo,
Someone is expressing their opinon ( Racergirl) & u tell them they dont know what they r talking. Is disrespectful. Then u agreed with her that GTR had superior proformance over and above the V8s, hence there banning and removal from the series.. Choose the words u express yourself with carefully, this way no-one will misread your opinons, about things cheap & common.
This thread was suppose to be about appreciation of a great GTR.

Justntime. Are you blind? Read her second sentence and figure out why I replied in that manner.

2nd of all, I didn't agree with her that the GTR had superior performance over the V8's. I simply corrected her WRONG reason for banning. Eg. The GTR was not banned because they were 'fast'...so in no way am I contradicting myself.

3rd. I did choose my words carefully. It is you and racegirl that are misreading my opinions and and then writing silly things like:

'It does show lack of knowledge for people to rubbish such a dominating car as the GTR.."

Where did you pull ^^^ that from? You my friend are the one that needs to use your words carefully.

Anyway....Back to RIPS R34. Very nice huh?

This is the agreed statement u made...

And I do know what I'm talking about..

Yes the RIPS R34 is a great car..

LOL, you just keep digging a bigger hole...

Yes i mentioned that, but i also said "the V8's were just as quick"

This brings the argument of 'If they were just as quick as eachother, how come nissan won all the time?' It's because they handled better.

It's just that I've heard so many times that they were banned because they were too fast. It's not the case. With the right gear ratios and traction, the commodores would have killed them on the straights, but suffered even more by slower cornering and vice versa. (I'm a turbo lover but I never underestimate the the power from V8's).

Justntime, I'l admit I could have wrote that a little clearer. We just had a conflict of interest. I'm not here to disrespect people, and I apologise if I have.

What Racegirl argued that GTR's aren't common. In my opinion (and i stated I'm referring to R32's) that they are becoming very common. I see more R32 GTR's than I do my Australian made TX5 turbs...

dont forget the gtr's where m,ade to put a pop off value (lol) as they where called on the plenum so they would not boost over i think 10psi?? i think the teams put these in a low pressure spot on the plenum but and wernt the gtr's made to put extra weight in the also?

If I remember rightly, the GTRs weren't actually (embarrasingly enough) dominating in sheer handling - I remember seeing dirty old Commodores sitting on the tail of GTRs coming down the Mountain, but then accelerating out onto the straight the GTRs (and the Cossies for that matter) would walk away from the V8s. The GTRs had the power over the V8s, and the traction accelerating out of corners - I was never convinced the mid corner speeds were any better at all. This is where the new GTR would be a bit of a weapon, it generally shifts its weight around really well - instead of just having the ability to make lots of power, and pull hard out of corners.

I hear rumour the blue RIPS drag GTR will be racing again next weekend with a couple of basic tidy ups... should be interesting to see how it goes.

Depends what teams your're reffering to and who drove them. Dick johnson's Sierra could pull away from Skaife's GTR,but Skaife always managed to win.

Just like in F1. Ferrari has the biggest funding and fastest car, yet slower cars like the Renault and McLaren Mercedes can still win against them.

But so many factors attribute to which car is faster and many of them aren't to do with horsepower...
