picked up the inlet manifold for $70!! and some extractors for $50.
its crazy how much better some parts will look after a coat of paint.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0622.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0621.jpg
i removed the battery tray and wire wheeled some bits and pieces in the bay to remove rust, also filled in unused holes with some putty that apparently dries as hard as metal lol we shal see! am going etch prime and bog over some bits tomorow and give it a few coats of paint and hopfully itl come up ok!
it went from this...
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0601.jpg
to this, but it was a fair fk around lol
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0611.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0619.jpg
well it was dangerous for me to start somthing like this lol...
mmm now i see why getting ur bay done costs so much lol
started the day by etch priming and filling then moved onto bogging....oh such fun!
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0651.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0675.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0672.jpg
my engine bay is now 100% wire free, everything is now completely hidden.
i did it all properly this time using proper brackets and sleeving, came up rather nice! still have the under dash to do tomorow lol....fun
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0779.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0781.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0775.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0782.jpg
finished my rad. support!
well for the moment lol
just in primer/filler atm, still got a final fine sand to do to get rid of the lil imperfections.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0784.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0790.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0793.jpg
cleaned up the wiring under the dash today and moved a few more wires and planned the wiring setup for the thermos. will have a switch in the cabin and twin relays and 30amp fuses mounted right under the headlights in the inner guard also finished up the extended wires for the passenger side headlight.
have to have the bay in primer and as back together as can be by midweek as the old ladies cracked the shits hard and wants her garage back lol.
the wires under the dash went from whats above to this
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0885.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0886.jpg
more trial fitting
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_0951.jpg
sold the VX SS and bought some internationals - already had tyres so total cost of internationals was $400!
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_1013.jpg
thought id do a chop for the fun of it
cant wait to lower the front!
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/vhchop10-1.jpg
and thats about it atm
im waiting for funds to gather again after i pay off some debt to purchase mig welder, compressor and paiting stuff, engine crane and other goodies to finish smoothing the bay properly and do a quick respray on the whole car.
then will finish putting the car back together properly, fix some of the things that are pissing me off and then its off for rego, im not expecting it to be done anytime before mid year though lol
dont wana rush or get my hopes up!
i have mounted my converter up under my drivers side guard and will have a splash guard made up to stop any nasties getting to it. am also toying with the idea of running 2 gas tanks with 2 gas lines to my B2 converters to get around the power limites of a single valve tank.
id been toying with ideas for paint as im doing a quick respray myself soon.
id thought i may as well try the 2 tone effect and heres some chops id played with
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/vhchop102.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_5668e.jpg
i cant help myself
discovered a few few bargains
got 2x 2 5/8 autometer procomp gauges, one oil pressure and a boost guage for $100, 2x chrome guage cups with brackets for $50, 4x 18" venom rims with tyres (although one rim is fked) for $50 annd a set of chrome wheel nuts for $16....lol!
i can get new venom rim for around $250, so i figure $300 for a set of 18s with tyres is pretty good! and id planned to put the rims on ebay.
annd also planned to wire up relays and fuses for the thermo, i figured id better do somthing on the list to get the car back up and running lol
so should be an exciting few days
w00
also spotted this PPG custom violet metallic paint real cheap! so toying with the idea of painting either the whoel car this color or doing the 2 tone using this color
heres a rough pic of how the paint looks
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/4017/pic1207004ml6.jpg
http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/915/pic1207007pv7.jpg
a few nice additions :)
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_1117.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_1127.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_1141.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/IMG_1116.jpg
looks like i might be swapping the wheels for the paint as a strait swap! so total cost of 7.5 litres of paint will be $50 loll
heres a pic of the paint, still hard to tell but its a dark purple without sunlight and then becomes metallic and a bit lighter in light
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/Image0.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/Image1.jpg
finished off the wiring for the thermo setups.
i have a switch in the cabin that is hooked up to accessories that then powers 2 30a relays with 30a fuse which powers each thermo fan separately.
im using the main +12v power from the junction on my starter motor which then runs 8guage wire under the K frame over to the relays and splits up into 12 gauge (i think) wire at the relays and to the fans.
lets see if t all works lol.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/misk_one/Image035.jpg
finished off the wiring for the thermos and gave them a test run (i didn't actually wire them up to the switch the otherday) and all is well! they work perfectly. once ignition turns off so do the fans, but once the ignition is on i can turn them on or off.
alsl figured out that i can actually put the fitting for my mechanical gauge in the extra hole at the oil pump, so that solves that problem easily!
and decided to do a trial fit of bonnet and dash gauges. yes i realize theres 2 boost gauges lol but im still yet to purchase a 2 5/8" water gauge and cups with brackets.
the dash will have the center warning lights showing but will have a panel covered in vinyl either side so the gauges fit in flush with no plastic showing through. and the metal surround on the gauges will also be replaced.
anyway i thought it came up alright!
sorry for the ****ty pics, mum went away with the camera

white looks tuff. keep the white :D
mmm i had thought about keeping it white.
but i want something a lil different :)
Don't leave it white,my cars white and it just don't stand out from the crowd,no one ever notices it, just paint it purple put some big rims on it and it will look trick! and what ever you do don't paint it in the two tone that you had in mind that looks yuk.
haha
mad
i dont mind honest feedback!
yeah i was only keen on the 2 tone for a lil bit and was more thinking black over silver.
but yeah i love this color and will look sick with black window frames and the deep metallic purple panels
ill eventually look at geting sigs or some oldschool rims
well fun day today sanding and stripping!

Mate, I love the turbo Commodore. Im actually in the process of turboing my straight gas VK. I didn't think I would be able to find anyone else doing the same thing. Just out of interest, have you run the car at the drags? And if so what did she do?
Keep up the good work.

love the vh buddy. lol i like it, lol are you gonna get a B&M shifter
Nice work, i am also building a VH SL/E
plans have changed lol
picked up a 2jzge for $300 complete ages ago, so got rid of the Rb30 idea...
i wont bore you with the shitty details in between, but heres some info
planning to get the car up and running with the 2jzge and the TA45 and run low boost 9around 10psi) and just get everything sorted, then find the limiti of the tune at the 10:1 comrpession of the stock GE engine
then fit a thicker head gasket and wind up the boost and find the limit of the bottom end lol.
starting the enging bay from scratch again to do it properly this time
ahh i remember the joys of sanding the engine bay
and just a few random photos of the golf club damage

Hi great build going on...
what mods need to be done to make it a straight gas turbo?
umm not really 'mods' for the gas system
instead of upgrading the fuel system with pumps and injectors, a gas system is basically a similar setup, plug up any injector holes, and its basically like running a carby setup - no need for fuel control, just a good ignition system.
the turbo side of things, i have a drain in the sump and will have a sandwhich plate put in between the oil filter and the block for the oil side of things, can then basically bolt the turbo on as i have the driveline and fuel system already - this is a huge advantage over starting with say a non turbo supra.
a stock 2jzge has a compression of 10:1, so cant run any higher than 10psi without causing harm to the engine before lower the compression with a thicker head gasket. as long as the compression is boost friendly, the engine should be fine for fair bit more than 10psi...
hope that helps lol

i saw a purple vk at the spit gold coast
with 2jz it had a gt42 turbo all internals done at 20psi it ran 10.3 and he said a better tune it would run 30psi and good for 9s
