hey man, how much does something like that cost? I'm lookin to buy my first car, but iv'e got a passion for drifting, so I'm lookin for what kind of budget setups there are around. The things ive been looking at are r31's, corolla's, gemeni's, even torana's or escorts...but nothing seems to be really cheap, and I wonder about getting aftermarket parts for some of em. I'd love a hachi, but the Initial D Tax is just too high :S

I know a few lads here in SA have been able to get s13's that are driftable on the road for about $7000. If you are looking to get on the road cheaper than that then you may be dreamin. :)

yer i know ey... DriftBattle managed to get their r31 wagon on the track for $3000, but it wasnt road-worthy (by a long shot lol)

i wanna try and stay away from the silvia crowd...to many for my taste...im thinkin some old toyota to begin with, then when i can afford it a 4A-GE 20v transplant or something...

I love drifting, I own a turbo cv8 monaro which is mainly setup for drag & dyno. Do any of you drift at calder park? If so, what nights & times?

you sound like a cop asking that!
i have never told anyone when im going out for a slide sept for like 3 of my mates coz im a tight ass and dont want to buy a video camera. last night i was sitting behind some random R32 worked off its head after droping my girlfriend home and he came to a roundabout and poped the clutch and let it hang so i had it out and then he hit the brake and i had to push handbrake in (i got a import with hardbrake on the floor) and rip it off and slide on the inside of him it was crazy i didnt know what i wanted more rapping around a pole or into him.

BTW i drift my Grande in my profile. its only a 2.0Ltr strait 6 rwd 4spd auto. If u cant drift this u shouldnt be allowed near a rear wheel drive.

my bro just got a VN commie... :)
he said he'll let me drive it a bit which means some nice drifting.. we're putting a mini-spool in it 2nite n getting rid of the bellmouth in the throttle body, n in a week or 2 we're strapping a small turbo for 4 - 5 psi so we can go thru that extra set of tyres a week :D

what motor

chainzaw
29-01-07, 04:58 PM
just the 3.8L V6 with an auto box on it atm...

me and my bro just went to newcastle and picked up a new engine and 5sp box connected together off a mate.. only problem with the 5sp was it needed a new clutch plate cause when we had it on the stand it leaked out where the clutch cable connects up...

and my bro's engine in his car atm... the rear bearing in the engine is gone so thats rooted completely n doesnt have much life in it left, so we've got this engine ready to play with this weekend...

then we're gunna slap a LSD into it, then he's getting his VY SS 5.7L :D

any other drifters out there? or are we all straight line?

been lookin at that, specifically the 4-AC + 5spd, tho it seems that every ke70/71/72 in australia only came with the pissy little 1.3L motor :(

anybody know if they actually sold the 4-AC model in Oz? or is it an import only?

turbo?

'clean' out your cat (by 'clean' i mean dig all the shit out and put a pip straight through) that normally helps.. altho its kinda illegal, but so is everything in car modding...

cam shaft? yella terra rockers? higher flowing fuel pump ?

my ass is big

firstly you need to learn how to drive... have a RWD car with a LSD or mini spool in it that has some balls... then you'll need a realitively light ass or small ass to kick it out.. so being 16 with no car (as far as we know) and a "big ass" you'll have some problems :p
just get yourself a RWD car then practice sliding around corners in your local area when its SAFE!!
im not, and no1 else is responsible if you crash or whatnot.. your the one behind the wheel making the decisions.. just thought you should know.. :)
