View Full Version : VN Calais Forced Induction Options?
Yeh i've got a VN Calais, full stock and i've got a few ideas for more power using forced induction. I don't really wanna spend more then 5 or 6 grand. I was thinkin about turboin the stock buick engine with a kit from snortperformance.com or supercharging it with a kit from CAPA, and the other idea i've come accross was droppin a turboed RB25 in it. Apparently all you need is a VL crossmember. Don't know how true that is. I just wanna know what option would give me better power for money and to find out about any other ideas

if ur a p plater i the supercharged buick engine setup would be perfect, but if u want to do the rb25 conversion id say u wud have to change the cross member i think, it wud make alot of sence to do so but im not 100% on that so any1 please correct me, rb25 = more power, more money.... supercharged buick = less money, decent power and plus if u run small boost like 8psi max u wont need a cooler i think??? or maybe thats a turbo, im not to sure im more into nat asp engines. so yea go the buick with a blower at 8 psi... if not that go ecotech with a vortech v7 blower running around 12 psi with a small cooler.
Yeh thanks man but i'm putttin an RB26DETT in it. Haha should have some power. My original engine has done nearly 370 thou and i can pick a 26 up for 3700 with ECU, harness, 6 speed gearbox and some other shit. I've enquired at Castlemain rod shop for the mount conversion. Should go pretty haed

lol 3700 for motor n bits etc, lol ud wanna know what ur doing lol, need to be real smart with wires. your probs better off getting a vl or something lighter, those vns are pretty heavy haha so yea mught be a bit tied down in the ass when trying to pull off the line, and being a stocko twin turbo dont up the boost aye coz the size difference that those turbo motors are built in is huge, but an rb series motor in a vn wud be something different and i dont think that conversion has been done that many times so it might be unique lol but think of the bright side not the dull side and u will have a good all round car. goodluck with it mate hope she all goes to plan
