View Full Version : VG30 Gearbox
Hi people, new to his forum and new to Nissan.
I need a gearbox, 5 speed manual, for behind my VG30e (1984ish Nissan 300c). I've heard that the Borg Warner boxes break easily so I prefer to not go with one of these.
I will need every thing to complete an auto - manual conversion, but I don't have large wheelbarrows full of money.
Suggestions and pointers welcome.

what box u want and where u live i can get u what ever u want
I will need something strong enough that it can take some abuse, but cheap is my main concern at the moment... I was thinking of a Z31 300ZX 5 speed, they have 3 different gearboxes, the borg warner and two nissan boxes. I would prefere one of the nissan boxes.

VG30E
The 3.0 L (2960 cc) VG30E produced 153 hp and 182 ft.lbf. Bore is 3.43 in (87 mm) and stroke is 3.27 in (83 mm). In 300ZX form, it produced 160hp and 174lb-ft. 1988 saw the 300ZX gain 5 more horses for a total of 165; however, torque ratings remained the same. In 1989, the Maxima received the 160hp rating, but also used a variable intake plenum that let it make 182lb-ft@3200rpm. Strangely, the 300ZX never received the variable intake plenum.
