You mean the days when you bought nitro by measuring it with a paint can ?

People got really serious.now you can run a PB with a .00 light and still lose where in the old days if you got to the end of the track and didnt break most of the time you got the win.

Cant see those days coming back.I think that era is referred to as the era when a common man could win a top fuel event.

i remember i used to line up with anything .... i couldnt give 2 shits, but i allways prefered to race a quicker car than mine ... i dont know it used to give me incentive to try harder i think ... even though i lost ... lol
i remember when it was lunch time u used to sit down with the guys u been racing against in the morning and talk whateva and at the end of the day walk away thinking ... what a top bloke he was , not what fuckwit he was
these days i'll say most guys shit em selves to race one another so the crowd doesnt see who's quicker than who and i'll bet ya $2 they dont sit down and eat lunch together either

The good old days have gorn. You used to be able to walk up the street and say hello and get a hello back. Now people look at you like your a leper. I'v lived in both places Sydney and Melbourne. I must say Melbourne's streets were mapped out with a ruler and a pencil where Sydney was mapped out by a 3 year old and a crayon LOL. But yes please don't give up on talking to people in the pits or when waiting to race. There are some out there that will talk back. Well have fun all and don't be scared to say hello back when ya in the pits..

Everyone's out at a maccas somewhere every night of the week ;)
i know i am most nights

also more people are into the burnouts and racing, and some people dont have the cash to have a straight line car, and to have a nice streeter, and a Daily Driver, with the streeter and DD registered and insured...

i would say the fact that car theft of these types of cars has gone through the roof might have something to do with it.

i try to be as friendly as possible, but my brain keeps thinking the person im talking to is just scoping it out to steal it.

i think its mixed, some guys are cool and otehrs arent with it all.

the thing i hate most is when some one with a similar car to yours wont say shit cause they think there car is faster, only to get inialated and then they come over all cool and want to know every thing.

Its the vl scene down here in melb that is screwed, full of showponies and chequebook racers. Its not about racing its more about who has the bigger ego.

chainzaw
08-11-06, 06:34 PM
yeah, i agree with FULPSI that everyone's ego is bigger then their ability to race...

and i also agree with 1JZ747 that the amount of car theft lately is definitly on the rise.. thats gutta be the most F**ked up thing these days, especially with commodores.. its garbage how some if some dickhead believes they "deserve" your car more then you, absoloute b.s...

my torrie never gets left anywhere without me
have heard people follow you to see were you park the car to knock it off
Ill talk to anyone that wants a chat, cars are my passion and im happy to share it with people
Yeah you get some dickheads that talk sh!t, but there not hard to work out in 5 min of talking
guys egg me on to do burnouts but its not my scene on the streets anymore with cars getting impounded,so i keep it to the track.
Its good when you do have a chat with people you learn of them and also can give advise to
so if you see me on the streets and want a chat its all good;) :D

i had a guy try to steal my pride and joy about 1 year back. he had been in jail for 3 years, been out for 2 weeks and was caught in my house by the cops thankfully. he went straight back in for 2 years for his earlier sentance he was out on then got another 2 years for breaking into my place and the stolen car he drove to steal mine.

i hadnt driven the car in a month so some one scoped the car out and paid him to do it. i moved house under advice from the boys in blue

chainzaw
09-11-06, 09:34 AM
dam, thats gutta suck balls aye...

if the boys in blue know that this guy's gunna be back, why dont they just fix him up in jail for a few extra years!?!? or insert a tracker in him, or just kill him..
i hate people that trie to steal cars, my mate had his tyres slashed, and his entire sound sys stolen which was worth around 3G.. jealous bastards

Maybe 'backyard' racing has become 'cheque book' ( bank loan) racing?

e.g 'I made my own manifold, here's the specs' to 'I payed this guy $10 000'.

btw I'm looking for sponsors!:)

That is certainly how it is old fashion brains have gone and been replaced with a cheque book.Well some of the time anyway.
