They were all taken with a Canon 30D bar the upside down Torana that was with my old Canon 10D, lenses were either the Canon 70-200mm f2.8L or 24-70mm f2.8L

Whats one of those cameras worth (Canon 30D)
Those Top Fuel pics are sensational
Its not easy taking a picture of a fuel car that is shaking the mutha fuck out of the ground
and is also making you shit yourself as it screams past you like a bullet

Canon 30D body only $2G
The lenses I mentioned are $2G each most carry 4 lenses in total (I am saving for the next two a short ~16mm wide angle and long zoom 100-400mmm)
Flash is $600
PLus acessories, bag, flash cards, battery charges, monopod, backup storage, batteries.
Also pretty much have to double up on everything incase some thing breaks, I have backup flash and camera.
Shooting Top Fuel...you have no idea how difficult that is, could not begin to describe standing next to those suckers when they launch, its bad enough when they are not moving, Nitro fumes alone make it hard enough, day time its not as difficult as fast shutter speeds eliminate issue with shake when get knocked back by the force, but at night trying to hit them with one shot with a flash on a slow shutter, a fair amount of good luck goes into it.

If you really want to get drilled by TF car go for a close up like this, I dont recommend it from experience.

yeah, getting close to the drag cars means fuel in face and camera and your ear drums going inside your brain... :D
my brother tells me all about that stuff, he gets media passes for big drag events and car events, and he's out there with his Nikon D200 or D70s...
nice shots crackling:)
