Hi,
I've been wondering what is different between the normal 1994-98 integra vtec engines and the 1999 type R vtec engines, could anyone tell me why the type R is so much faster? engine wise.
Any feedback on this question would be much appreciated. :)

I know very minimal with hondas, but i do know this.
the type r is a 2 ltr as opposed to the 1.8 ltr vtir.
The type r has fully balanced internals, allowing it to rev waaayyyy harder.
Different comp pistons, i'd say cam, valves, ECU, pretty much a lot! LOL :)
They are both 1.8s (BA18C)
VTiR here was 10.0:1, type R is 11.0:1
VTiR was 125kw, R was around 148 or so.
R alos revs around 500rpm harder.
VTiR can easy pick up some power with basic mods.

They are both 1.8litre VTECs, the B18CR in the type R has higher compression, better balancing, better ports, better cams, better inlet manifold and exhaust manifold, better exhaust system, the car has no sound deadening and lighter panels (thinner glass even? can't remember), and more aggressive/close gear ratios as well as a good LSD. It all adds up.

ur spot on the money here mate.......even thinner windscreen............
the b18c7 (type r) engine was hand built..........
the b18c2 (vtir) engine was mas produced.........
hence the type r also has the higher rev limiter, higher comp pistons, and more agressive cams.............
