hi guys i have just bought myself a my07 subaru wrx wagon. it is as stock as a rock except for a remus exhaust. it has 200,000 on the clock and drives like it but in all is a good car for the age of it. my only gripe is especialy in first gear if you nail it it surges between 2000rpm and 4000rpm and comes good if you back off and re aply the throttle, not all the time but sometimes, but the car has aparently sat for 12 months and i put it down to bad fuel in the car (1/4 of a tank) the car seems slugish even with turbo kicking in, i have just put this down to the car being 10 years old and done 200k, other than that it handles like it is on skates...... loses grip in fast corners but in general i like it so i have payed a deposit and will own it next week.... what i would like is some guidence in what to do next... here is my plan,

get the car and drive for 2-3 thousand kms with diesel oil in the motor to loosen up the gunk with in the engine (if you have any reason i should not do this please make it known)

then do the following mods for a bit of a better car

G reddy profec b spec II ebc
alarm system with the turbo timer relay, window winder and auto start feature
Blitz fatt full auto turbo timer
some sort of yuppie blow off valve (need sugestion)
Injectors remove and ultrasonicly clean
New fuel filter (need suggestion)
New oil and filter (need suggestion)
Clean intake piping
New spring (need suggestion)
New shockers (need suggestion)
New brake pads (need suggestion)
New spark plugs (need suggestion)
New leads (need suggestion)
new tyres

what do you guys think i should set the boost at ? i am aiming to keep the stock ecu in the car as this is only a toy for me to learn a bit about turbo charged vehicles...

i was also wanting some guidence on getting better injectors, fuel pump, and anything else small dollared to make it a bit more fun but without changing the ecu, but if i change the injectors to better ones will i have to change the ecu or will the standard ecu be able to be re maped ?

should i concider removing the turbo unit and checking for play ? and whilst at it cleaning the throttle body for a better idle ?

sorry for all the questions guys but i am excited to nearly own a little fun car to drive :D

or if you have any other usefull info you think i migh like please make it known i am here to learn..

cheers
Adrian

How you going mate. You have described a car with a bucket load of K's with existing problems and sounds like you intend to spend a few dollars on it as well. Personally I would use the money to buy a more recent subie with less K's and no problems and do the mods over time if money is tight. Unless you know exactly the history of the car why buy someone elses problems.
