Hey guys im considering buying a MY99 WRX. Like with all performance cars i know that you need to look out for signs of them being thrashed and driven hard. since you guys own them and can give good advice, what things should you look out for when buying a MY99 WRX?

i wouldnt mind a modified wrx, things like exhaust, BOV, lowered, front mount intercooler, but i dont exactly want something heavily modified.

Also how expensive are they to maintain? i herd they drank petrol like there was now tomorrow and they ate the front tyres up, and also that the brakes arnt as good as youd expect, and having to get the turbo rebuilt at some stage... any advice would be appreciated. thanks :)

hey did you buy one >?

all i can say is yes they munch petrol, but what performance vehicle doesnt >? also as for maintaining its a turbo, so you really need to keep up with it all .. they cost enough to buy so why not keep it in the best condition you can >?

as for tyres, mmm well i cant say they dont wear and tear but again, what car doesnt >?

i havent done much to mine as yet, looking at wheels at the mo' that dont slow performance down .. ouch !! and got interior getting done this week ! hot pink on silver body !! cute !!

goodluck hope you find what your looking for !!

Best thing to do would be a compression leak down test on the car, i purchased my wrx 99 model 2 weeks ago and i love it.. i bought mine stock so i am guessing petrol is much better than a modified one.. id say about 11litre/100kms... maintaining isn't so exp. just the usual oil changes every 5000kms

Good luck buddy
