hey vl dudes can any1 tell me where id find the place to connect a tacho into a vl without damaging anything??? ive put 1 in a vs before but not a vl so i need to know where it does.

two options.

find the wire (i think its blue?) that runs to the dash cluster that is meant for the oem trigger signal.

other is a brown/red wire near the back of the alternator used for diagnostic testing, also gives the same signal.

either of those two options are fine.

oh yep cheers guys i put 1 in a vs the other day it was easy n yea, its a 4.5inch NEO drift tacho so yea.

hey people i found that wire it was sitting above the alternator taped onto the diognostic cable i set it up, the power wires n shit are a bit dodgy but it still looks sweet it works perfectly ill post some photos of my car and its progress in a new thread when i do some more stuff to it, cheers blokes thats 4 the help.

hey i tried linking it to that wire ur talking about i get nothing with my tacho please get back to em asap like all it does is i turn on the key to set the rpm then turn off engine and then turn on again to run the tacho and it just sits on my shift point and doesent mvoe its a vl standard no turbo nothing anyone got any idea why it wont work? also makes no diffrence if i connect it to the negative side of the coil nothing there either sits at my shift point no movement

my way was a bit dodgy lol but it worked fine, just above the alternator theres the diognostics plug and another single cable, u hook the green wire (which is the tach meter sender) into that, and then connect all ur other wire u need to connect like alum, power neg, n all that crap and it shud work if not retrace ur steps back again and maybe that tacho sendner cable is fucked coz it shud work, go buy urself a tachometer checker thingo tests for right revs n shit im pretty sure but yea even a multimeter will work aslong as ur gettin some kind of current, cheaper way lick ur finders and put then on a bare part of the wire whilst the car is running and if it shocks you it works lol
