Ive recently fitted a 9inch to the torana and mini tubbed it, added Strange adjustable coilovers, a huge fuel system and started to build a new holden 6 :)

is it a 202 in it? what work has been done to it? is that blower on a modified 4barrell manifold??

heres a tip. grab that pro comp coil and THROW THE THING AS FAR AWAY FROM THE CAR AS POSSIBLE.
i see you have decent brands elsewhere, holley, qa1, msd, mallory.. stick to that theme and you wont have any troubles... you have been warned ;)
LJpete1983

hmm, everyone seems to be saying that about the procomp gear.
its a 202. havent built the bottom end yet. the blower is on a custom sheet metal manifold, the intake runners are chopped off a VK efi manifold
Dont listen to them Ive been using a Procomp coil for years now with no probs at all.
They must work for MSD :)

well arent you one of the lucky ones!
no procomp has nothing to do with msd, just an uncanny similarity in the appearance.
mind you, this copy cat appearance ended up in the courts with procomp losing.. big time.

the model is a 1/18 die cast biante torana. i pulled it completely down and built it as a scale model of my torana. was about a months work

hoping for mid to low-ish 12s

I ran a blown and injected 202 years ago, low 12's should be easy with decent boost and tune in a relatively light car like torana, mid 11's should be realistic goal
my old setup-

my day today was filled with 6 hours of scrubbing, wirebrushing, sanding, wet sanding, buffing on the front cover. i know why they charge so much to polish stuff now

hoping for at least 300 at the wheels. its a GM 4/71 Roots style supercharger and the engine is a Holden 6

good old holdens lol, i used to have an old ke30 rolla with a 202 bottom end abd 186 head on top running a redline manifold and 350 holley lol welded diff half roll cage, 4spd manual, homejob dash haha, the bloody thing sounded like a v8 also the engine used to stick halfway through the firewall, overall was a good car sad i had to let it go.

will have the carby hidden inside for the blown injected look

Nice!, just looks a bit odd being off the right lol.
How are you going to open the bonnet with the scoop on there? are you going to cut it out a bit more?
LJpete1983
21-01-08, 07:08 PM
yeah gonna cut the hole out to suit the scoop. mate of mine reakons not to and to just take the scoop off to open the bonnet, but that way if i have a fire or something i dont want to mess around taking it off then opening the bonnet.
You could always try a shot gun style scoop there a bit narrower, it mite fit through the hole with out having to cut the bonnet.
I like it with just the small air filter on it, no scoop.. But that's me. I'd do what ya mate said don't cut it just remove it when you have to lift the bonnet.. How many times a day will you be looking under there lol. Your car but and you have done well so far.. Well done...

Not being able to open the bonnet quickly in an emergency would be just asking for trouble what if you have a fire under there by the time you got the scoop off (not an easy thing to do with flames leaping up around it) ya engine would be burnt to a crisp.

not to mention the engine bay, bonnet, then whole car
Yer goood point lol.. I still think just a little air filter. That big thing takes away the look from the blower. Just my thoughts. Not that the last one was thought all the way through. Didn't even think of a fire. Or the police. Can you just wait till I take this off and I'll show you what's under there haha..

hi there cool car as i am a six head myself i would love to see under the bonnet, i have an fc 202 on the bottle but am thinking of blown any more pics would be awesome.

its not finished yet, but heres one of the engine bay before the bugcatcher went on. the motor is just a dummy block so i can get the blower and clearances etc sorted. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g237/whypsi/frontcoverpolished1.jpg

gave the bugcatcher a good clean and polish, painted the butterflys to match the stripe / engine / interior highlights :)

With the way your thinking of mounting the scoop over the carby do you have enuf space between the top of the carby and the top of the scoop ? you need at least 100mil to ensure adequate air supply.
LJpete1983
27-01-08, 09:35 PM
yeah im going to have a 3 inch tall air filter inside which should be ok. means the scoop will have to come up a bit, but better that than leaning out
very nice!
good to see ppl still sticking with the 202s
they can go alright with a bit of persuasion :p
what specs did you go with for the engine build?

:) nice car even the model car look's sick;)
LJpete1983
04-02-08, 09:02 PM
thanks :)
the 202 is a blue block o ringed, balanced fully counterwighted crank with HQ racing pistons, starfire rods, secret grind solid cam, yella terra roller rockers, copper headgasket, ported red motor head, double valve springs. hanging off that is the sheet metal blower manifol, 4/71 gm blower and 750 blower carb
basically exactly what im running mate!
only difference is the oringed block and solid cam and im using a red block.
that bottom end has been proven to handle well over 300rwkw with good tuning and maintnance.
so should be a nice lil project ;)

scoop is now mounted. took a bit of thinking but its done. theres an air filter inside to keep out nasties. will change to a k&n one, the cheapo one is just to set up.
now just gotta add a bracket for the throttle cable and fuel pressure gauge mount :)
will use a 750 holley blower carb with no choke horn. that way its not blocking airflow

Theres nothin wrong with the procomp coil, but grab that dizzy and chuck it as far away as possible, make just as much power with a points dizzy. i used to have one in my fj but it would play up with the msd 6al and shut the engine off. took me awhile to realise so i just chucked it and made my home made dizzy :)

heya..well done... when you get it running i'd love to hear it..you tube mabe if we're lucky?? if it helps get yourself carnuba wax paste or liquid polish and go over the polished alloy..it will keep water stains and shit from staining the alloy..i know what it is like to keep alloy clean..i use mothers but mquires is also tops..the 9" conversion and the blower..etc.. did you do it yourself? did you set a budget??
cheers.
