SPORT COMPACTS TAKING HONOURS AT SUMMER NATIONALS
Feb 16/17 saw a number of Sport Compact vehicles out in force at the NRMA Motoring + Services Summer Nationals at the Western Sydney International Dragway (http://www.wsid.com.au/). Pac Performance were one of the groups out in force with no less than 6 cars including the Pac MX6 driven by George Rehayem (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/George_Rehayem.php), RX3's of Robert Stanbury, Shane Flaiban, Ivan Skaramuca (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/Ivan_Skaramuca.php), George Marcevski (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/George_Marcevski.php) and the Corolla of Jim Magliveras (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/Jim_Magliveras.php). The MX6 reeled of some consistent low 7sec passes with a best of 7.165sec@199.11mph. Impressive numbers were everywhere with Stanbury's 7.56@180mph, Skaramuca's 7.625@165.38, Flaiban's 7.692@175.57, Magliveras's 7.879@170.02mph and Marcevski's 7.97@165.68mph. Rehayem & Stanbury played the index game in Comp while Skaramuca, Flaiban, Marcevski & Magliveras duked it out in Super Sedan. The icing on the cake came when Shane Flaiban's Pro Turbo 20B RX3 was voted "Best Engineered" by ANDRA. A very impressive feat for this beautifully presented RX3 considering the company it was competing with. A big congratulations to the Flaiban Brothers and Pac Performance.
The current Pro Turbo record holder Joe Signorelli (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/Joe_Signorelli.php) of Gas Motorsports was battling it out in Super Sedan. The Gas Team Top Qualified in Super Sedan with a 7.04@204.98mph. After getting a handle on the clutch Signorelli ran 3 back to back 6.90's in eliminations before being knocked out in Round 3. In the process Joe reset the SS/BB record to a 6.901@205.69mph with the mph being a new PB for the team.
Bill Nabhan (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/Bill_Nabhan2.php) of MazSport had his hands full as usual with two drives for the weekend, steering the TCR Black Mazda RX3 and the Queen St BMW 4 Rotor. The 20B Auto RX3 ran a best of 8.3sec on the day until having a rear suspension problem which put it on the trailer. Bill was chasing improvements in the 60 foot time in the Queen St BMW getting down to 1.10 sixty foots with ET in the 7.4sec zone and qualifying 2nd in Super Sedan with a 7.451@184.93mph. Another couple of MazSport customers were also competing including Nick Tsoltoudis (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/Nick_Tsoltoudis.php) with his Pro Turbo Mazda RX3 and Alberto Martin with his Street 298 "Locco" Mazda RX2. Nick knocked out a PB of 7.608@181.32mph while Alberto ran a PB also with a 9.28 @142mph and lifted 1/3 track
Grant Williams in his 13B Turbo powered Ford Probe was out playing the index game in Super Stock and doing an awesome job. Although he didn't run any PB's on the weekend due to having to run the manually shifted transmission required in Super Stock, but Grant did a great job and was Runner Up at the end of the event. Grant laughed as he told me today that they couldn't have gone another round as they were out of fuel! Better keep another 20Ltr handy Grant if your going to take it to the final again :)
All in all a great weekend for Sport Compact and drag racing in general. Congrats to all the winners and WSID for staging a great event.

WOOLLETT ON-EDGE FOR TOYO TYRES MINI-JAM
http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/img/TheoW.gifWillowbank Raceway's (http://willowbank-raceway.com.au/) test and tune on Saturday the 17th of Feb saw some of the best Street All Wheel Drive testing we have seen yet. Theo Woollett (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/Theo_Woollett.php) Racing were out testing in the lead-up to the TOYO TYRES MINI-JAM which will be held at Willowbank Raceway on the 31st of March as Round 3 of the 2006/2007 Sports Compact Group Drag Racing Series.
Speaking with Theo on Saturday night, he explained that since the National Open at Willowbank in early January where they set a blistering time 8.95 sec, they have been struggling with the delivery of the power to the track.
The main problem we’ve been experiencing was leaving the start line. We either had too much power or not enough! With the fast thinking of Steve and the boys from Direct Clutch they made some very minor adjustments to the clutch which allowed us to put down some of the most consistent and quickest passes we’ve seen in the Street All Wheel Drive class yet” commented Woollett.
Not only did the ON-EDGE Nissan Skyline GT-R put some very impressive passes down with ET’s of 9.01, 9.05, 9.06, 9.09 and 9.11, they also belted out a couple of 160.43 mph trap speeds in the process. With the newly found bracket racing consistence, the team are in good stead for the Street All Wheel Drive class which is run on a DYO (Dial Your Own) format. After talking with Rob Stafford of Garrett Turbochargers during the week the team will be turning up the boost for the TOYO TYRES MINI-JAM (http://www.fullboost.com.au/forum/round3.php). Along with competing in the HKS by PWA sponsored Street AWD class, the team hopes to take the number 1 spot for radial tyred GT-R’s away from long time friend and competitor Keir Wilson who currently holds the record with an 8.89 @ 160.86mph.
I’d say with what we saw on the weekend the Theo Woollett Racing team are well on their way to achieving their goal. To keep up to date with Theo Woollett Racing checkout www.theowoollett.com.au (http://www.theowoollett.com.au/)
