Feb 16/17 saw a number of Sport Compact vehicles out in force at the NRMA Motoring + Services Summer Nationals at the Western Sydney International Dragway. Pac Performance were one of the groups out in force with no less than 6 cars including the Pac MX6 driven by George Rehayem, RX3's of Robert Stanbury, Shane Flaiban, Ivan Skaramuca, George Marcevski and the Corolla of Jim Magliveras. The MX6 reeled of some consistent low 7sec passes with a best of 7.165sec@199.11mph. Impressive numbers were everywhere with Stanbury's 7.56@180mph, Skaramuca's 7.625@165.38, Flaiban's 7.692@175.57, Magliveras's 7.879@170.02mph and Marcevski's 7.97@165.68mph. Rehayem & Stanbury played the index game in Comp while Skaramuca, Flaiban, Marcevski & Magliveras duked it out in Super Sedan. The icing on the cake came when Shane Flaiban's Pro Turbo 20B RX3 was voted "Best Engineered" by ANDRA. A very impressive feat for this beautifully presented RX3 considering the company it was competing with. A big congratulations to the Flaiban Brothers and Pac Performance.
The current Pro Turbo record holder Joe Signorelli of Gas Motorsports was battling it out in Super Sedan. The Gas Team Top Qualified in Super Sedan with a 7.04@204.98mph. After getting a handle on the clutch Signorelli ran 3 back to back 6.90's in eliminations before being knocked out in Round 3. In the process Joe reset the SS/BB record to a 6.901@205.69mph with the mph being a new PB for the team.
Bill Nabhan of MazSport had his hands full as usual with two drives for the weekend, steering the TCR Black Mazda RX3 and the Queen St BMW 4 Rotor. The 20B Auto RX3 ran a best of 8.3sec on the day until having a rear suspension problem which put it on the trailer. Bill was chasing improvements in the 60 foot time in the Queen St BMW getting down to 1.10 sixty foots with ET in the 7.4sec zone and qualifying 2nd in Super Sedan with a 7.451@184.93mph. Another couple of MazSport customers were also competing including Nick Tsoltoudis with his Pro Turbo Mazda RX3 and Alberto Martin with his Street 298 "Locco" Mazda RX2. Nick knocked out a PB of 7.608@181.32mph while Alberto ran a PB also with a 9.28 @142mph and lifted 1/3 track
