I'll be there in my XE, not much of an engine but it'll pull a nice skid out of the water. BTW, does anyone know if they'll let me through scrutineering with baldish tyres?

Really they shouldn't, but because they are desperate for numbers, you might get in....
With the excuse that they put the entry up to $65 for insurance and running costs, and now dropping it to $40, does that mean they don't have insurance any more? Or are they taking shortcuts in other areas ie: track prep,safety...... I'd be asking the question before i went anywhere near there!!!

Tonite was awesome fun!
If anyone was there, I was the guy in the red XE. It ran a 17.1 @ 79mph. Not bad for a 340,000km engine with an exhaust
congratulation to darren hunter on his 9.742, now hurry up luke with posting up the in car footage.

New Competitor entry fee at Calder Park
Entry Fee - $40 includes Insurance, Full safety team (Victorian Fire and Rescue Squad), Full Ambulance (J L Paramedical), Tow Truck (Eltham Towing - As used by V8 Super Car teams). Track preperation - Track thoroughly cleaned, Rubber dragged & VHT traction compound applied, fully experienced clean up crew and equipment and spotters positioned at startline,330ft, 660ft, 1000ft, finish line, Repco, and bottom end, to ensure any parts failure and fluid leaks are deceted ensuring a safe and fluid free track at all times.
If you have the misfortune of experiencing a mechenical failure, pulling up on the grass side verge rather then driving the full length of the track, would minimise any clean up time.

Last time i ran out there the track was thoroughly cleaned.
Having Said that, the available traction led me to believe that they forgot to remove the soap.
I also enjoyed the resurfacing.
Seems that they resurfaced to the main problem area (where the circuit joins the strip) but not past it, and it ramps slightly upwards, just unsettling the bike a little more.
For street guys, go for it. Anything under 9.50's, take the extra hour drive and go to Heathcote.

As soon as i read this i had a fair idea who wrote this from the spelling mistakes...... Track prep is an art, not just VHT sprayed on a track and claimed to be fully prepped, no wonder so many people have trouble hooking up and have turned there back on the place, they'd rather go to Heathcote, which is better run ( not by egotistical maniacs) and better traction. The mystery 'bump' that has supposedly been removed is still there, goes up in lane 1 and down in lane 2, just after where the new surface stops. That's nearly $50,000, 3 goes at it and the track is still the same!!!! Somebody's not doing there job properly......

now dropping it to $40, does that mean they don't have insurance any more?
Gee Yogi351. You seem to have a real chip on your shoulder, Be greatful that you are getting great value for your money!
From where I am situated it would be more expensive to drive to Heathcote then actually compete at Calder. (and if something goes horribly wrong at least the tow would be a hell of a lot cheaper).
As a bonus they even have safety and paramedics on hand if the worst should happen! That alone, to me was worth the extra $25 late last year!!!

Habib may not be Speaking English but what he has written is very funny, I do not think it is as funny as the spelling mistakes made by the person from Calder, or the story he is telling about how good the track is and the way it is run. If the track and staff are so good why haven't they had a proper race meeting for a long time and why do a lot of race car owners go to all the way to Heathcote to test their cars.
There must be some reason for this. This is because the track is below average and the people that run it have no people skills, they are very arrogant, and think they know everything about everything.

habibs bak.............Hi fellas, Suzee writing for Habib, relax guys, he talks cool but he says he cant type. I found that strange as he carries a laptop in his glovebox with this motec thingy and wires stuck into it. Anyway while "chuckin laps at chaps" in his Nissan, he tells me to type for him. Habib says all he wants to do, is race/ compete for real, not for a time card, not in a playstation simulator like at tulla, not on the streets but like the real deal they used to have at Calder and Heathcote. Melbourne's supposed to be the sports capital of the WORLD with F 1, Moto Gp, tennis courts, footy ovals, soccer feilds, basketball etc. even roundy roundy courses but not one proper Drag strip. Every other state has one or two, must be people talking to each other reckons Habib, but when he gets to this drag racing forum he's attacked for his his diction, threatened by a flogga with a staged bmw foto and had his post deleted. WTF. There's others like Habib who want the real deal but not on this forum or site maybe? He'd be better off writing to the Govt. sports minister. One voice cant do it. If you can sign off your posts with your e,t.'s and mph's go one step further and write to a minister like they did in Sydney. Look what they've got now. The real deal! Gotta go now, Habibs taking me to Wallan back beach to watch the submarine races...............

wsid has Jim Read.
calder has Bob Jane.
nuff said.
writing to all the sporting bodies isnt going to do shit until someone with the financial backing and the HEART to do it like Read has at wsid will anything happen.
we all know that the wheels are in motion, so lets just hope the snowball gets bigger and bigger, and doesnt end up like adrenaline powerhouse or whatever the other proposed site ended up as.

I have not set foot in Calder since the last time when they had the 2 top fuel cars and will never set foot in that shithole again. No matter how good their insurance and saftey crews are the fact of the matter is that place is dangerous and should be closed down so we have a chance of lobbying for a track like WSID.
The people who race at Calder are fools who cannot see the big picture. The place is 10 years past its best and will be no matter what they claim to do to fix it but I guess you guys are happy racing at a sub standard venue.
The Dandy drags would be a safer option. Although you might get beaten up.
